wow, almost a month's gone by

I knew I hadn't posted in a while, but I guess the whole Christmas/New Year's/working on Orca Bay has kept me busy. So, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year!
Now on to Orca Bay quilt. I am two rows away from finishing the main part of the quilt top! I'd stay home from work and do it today, but somebody's got to make the money to buy the fat quarters, you know? This quilt has been such a different experience for me. TONS of piecing. Probably more pieces in this quilt than in the previous 3 combined. Lots of pieces to line up, at which I suck. Luckily the pattern is forgiving of the individual wonkiness of the pieces.

I am so charmed by so many of the elements of this quilt. I think Ohio stars might be a new favorite block. I also love the scrappy aspect.

I have a couple more rows sewn on since I took this picture, and just two more to go for this main part. I love how it's looking. I've still got a bunch of sewing for the borders. If you want to see how it will look, or rather what I'm aiming for, because mine won't look nearly as professional as this, check out Bonnie's blog.

  1. Hey Carolyn -- I LOVE your quilt. Don't know what the original looked like, but I love all the colors in yours. I think you're doing a great job, especially considering how many pieces are in there! I agree ... Ohio Stars is one of my favorite blocks ... I did a scrappy one as a wall hanging and the simplicity of it I just love.
